Complete one cell with small, medium, and large rings of the same color to trigger Color Burst. All rings of that color disappear from the board. Other colors stay.
Spot the source
The completed cell is the source. The short color connections point to rings affected elsewhere on the board, which can include rings that are not part of any line.
A Color Burst and a normal line can happen on the same move. Their clear sets are combined, so a ring included in both is removed once.
Balance the opportunity against space
Two sizes of one color in a cell create a possible burst, but the missing size and color may not arrive next. Treat that pair as an opportunity, not a reason to ignore a useful line clear now.
When the board is crowded, keeping playable slots available can matter more than waiting for a particular piece. Plan the rings already in your tray before relying on a future refill.

A placement that completes one Color Burst and no line earns 160 points. A placement completing two lines and no burst earns 260. The burst bonus is per completed source cell, not per ring removed.
Why do more colors appear?
New games start with three available colors. The pool grows to four at 250 points, five at 800, and six at 1,600. These thresholds affect future tray pieces; rings already on the board or in the tray are not recolored.
